Student Expectations
At the JCB Library students can conduct research, collaborate with their peers, and create new knowledge to achieve academic success. Located at the center of the school, the library is the hub of the JCB community. The librarian seeks to provide a welcoming environment where students can engage in meaningful learning experiences.
Students who visit the library are expected to work productively and be respectful of the people and property in the library. Students must do their part to keep the library clean by picking up their personal belongings and trash before leaving. Food and drink are not allowed in the library. |
Library Passes
Students need to pick up a gold pass before the beginning of their study hall period to use the library. Users must sign in when they arrive and leave the library.
Students are required to stay in the library for the entire study hall period unless they have a pre-signed pass to go to another location. Students must be clear of any overdue items to be permitted independent use of the library. The number of seats available is based on the class schedule each day. The library will post the schedule of availability each day on the white board at the library entrance. |
Resources
We are happy to help you with your reading, research or technology needs.
Students may borrow up to 4 books at a time from our collection which includes fiction, non-fiction, biographies and DVDs. Reference books may be used while in the library. The library also has a digital collection of ebooks for student to borrow. We participate in the Inter-library Loan (ILL) program with other libraries. If we don't have a book you are looking for, we can borrow it from another library. Feel free to use personal electronic devices and our WiFi for educational purposes, but not to text message or as a cell phone. |
Meet the JCB Library Media Specialist
Miss Powell (seen here dressed as Nancy Drew) is a huge nerd. She is often found with her nose in a book but also enjoys traveling to real places around the world. Miss Powell received a master's degree in library science from Syracuse University and a bachelor's degree in sociology and special education from Le Moyne College - she is a proud orange dolphin. Please feel free to visit Miss Powell in the library at any time, she is happy to answer questions and help students and teachers be successful in any way she can.
